The LAB Biodiversity & Climate Change (CC) Project focused on strengthening the links between biodiversity management and climate change at the local level. While the concern about climate change tends to focus on the wellbeing of humankind, it is seldom acknowledged that climate change is also likely to become the dominant driver of biodiversity loss by the end of the 21st century (Millennium Ecosystem Assessment). It is also seldom acknowledged, or even properly understood, that biodiversity can make a critical contribution in dealing with climate change through many of the ecosystem services that nature provides.
The LAB Biodiversity & CC WorkNet aimed to make the links between these two pertinent issues.
