The Singapore Index, initially designed to measure biodiversity in urban environments, provides a valuable framework for assessing and enhancing urban biodiversity. However, its direct application in China is hindered by regional differences in ecological, climatic, and socio-economic conditions. Localizing the index will ensure it is relevant and effective in the Chinese context, promoting sustainable urban development, enhancing ecosystem services, and supporting China’s commitments to international biodiversity targets.
