Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Uruguai, Dominican Republic
What we are doing
Climate Compliance is a fundamental step for sustainable urban development. This Capacity Building Programme aims to be a participatory process and raise awareness among multiple actors, including public administration bodies and entities, civil society and non-governmental entities. From this training program, it is intended to carry out diagnoses of the territory, establish ambitious goals and plan actions and indicators in line with international commitments and agreements, such as the Global Pact of Mayors for Climate and Energy and the Paris Agreement . The main objective of this capacity building programme is to present concepts and tools for developing Climate Compliance for cities. ICLEI offers solutions for cities based on this Compliance, which comprises Climate Governance, Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories, Climate Risk and Vulnerability Studies, Local Climate Action Plans and Climate Regulation. The Capacity Building programme will be offered virtually, divided in modules. There will be 4 or 5 modules, depending on the theme, with recorded videos and a live online class per week. The modules will be focused on 3 different themes: – Inventory of Greenhouse Gas Emissions; – Adaptation and Resilience for Climate Risk and Vulnerability studies; – Local Climate Action Plans.
What we are achieving
ICLEI South America already had developed training in these thematics, specially on Inventory of GHG Emissions (2017, 2018, 2019/2020) and Local Climate Action Plan (2020). ICLEI South America expects to have annual Climate Compliance Capacity Building cycles.
